UNIGLASS

County Glass is a successful second-generation family business in Southern England. The company first bought a Uniglass UGF tempering line in 2000, and since then several upgrades have followed, the most recent of which is a software upgrade in December 2007.

The software upgrade ensures that the user interface can better support the entire production process as a modern system. Recipe handling is now more advanced and the entire system is more reliable. Overall, the upgrades, which have also included a model change in 2003 and a service contract in 2005, have allowed County Glass to grow with the increasing demands of its customers in the window and conservatory industry. This has meant not just the ability to toughen thicker glass, but has also more efficient operations and the benefit of a reduced carbon footprint.

Ian Hamilton, Managing Director of County Glass, has every reason to be optimistic. "Our plans for the future are to continue producing high-quality products and remain forward thinking and open to new ideas. Who knows, one day we may even need to purchase another Uniglass machine!"
