Ali & Sons Co. LLC, one of the Middle East's largest conglomerates, recently decided to embark on yet another new business venture, namely to meet the region's escalating need for first-rate glass products. The result was the establishment of a new company, Spectrum Glass LLC, and the purchase of a Uniglass UGC Plus tempering line.

Given the Group's extremely high reputation for only the best product quality and service, the new furnace, too, had to be perfect. And, in the end, it was the versatility UGC Plus that made it the winner. In the UAE, the glass used on the outside of buildings is mostly coated in various reflective colors to help combat high temperatures. The UGC Plus is well suited to produce the kind of glass properties needed for tempering and heat strengthening clear float glass, tinted glass, pyrolytic and sputter coated glass.

Basem Khanfar, Business Development Manager of Spectrum Glass, already has his eyes on the future. "At this point, we'll start operations with one Uniglass furnace. We have plans in the near future of ordering a second furnace."
